Hello Community
For a school project, I need to create a system which would be able to track the distance of vehicles on a moving bike. Therefore, I am looking for sensors that would have a rape up to 20 meters (~65 feet) and that wouldn’t be too expensive.. I have searched a lot for help on this forum and was able to find some ideas but none of them seem to work for me. For example, the HC-SR04 was a range which is too short and the LIDAR-Lite v3 is out of budget. Would you have recommendations ?
Thanks a lot for helping !
Hi there,
well, can you specify your budget?
If you need a sensor up to 20m you can check this out
if a 14m range can work as well, you can use this one (cheaper)
Ultrasound is positively out at that range.
LiDAR and similar technologies are your main options. If that's out of budget, you have to do something about either your budget or your requirements.
Hello
Thanks for your replies. I was looking for price around 60€.
@humandroid : these look great ! I am going to look for something between the 2 in order to reduce the costs.
@ wvmarle : what do you have in mind when you say "similar technologies". I am convinced you might know thing I don't on this topic !
Thanks again
Nothing specific in mind - LiDAR is basically a time of flight system, sending out a light pulse and measuring how long it takes to get back to you.
You may be able to stretch your budget for a LiDAR Lite unit. You can probably find it from sources on your side of the Atlantic as well, and likely at lower prices than the Sparkfun offering.
