DIY LCD with buttons

pumpy:
Hello everyone
Am starting my first steps into an Arduino project and am looking for a regular 16 x 2 LCD shield with 4 maybe buttons.

Am no beginner to electronics so have a few LCDs around, but what I can't seem to find is a sort of DIY LCD Shield with a few (4 maybe 6) push buttons.
I know commercial solutions are available but as I have the stuff and the skills to do it though I'd ask.

Am not expecting someone to do it for me, but at the same time don't want to re-invent the wheel.

So any suggestions?

I'm using an Uno R3.

Thanks.

Most character LCDs we encounter here are fortunately all pin compatible but there are some that are not. Now you have your LCD and want someone's shield kit without the LCD, you are on your own with compatibility issues. If you are sure your LCD has the same pin out as the popular HD44780 displays, you can try my shield if you want. There is a buy option to only get the PCB and two essential parts. You supply buttons and the rest basic parts including LCD.

This is a popular model, which I sold several hundreds (not via popular DIY joints such as sparkfun or adafruit).
