DIY raw LiDAR, looking for the electrical signal

Hi,
For an optimization problem we are trying to make a LiDAR which returns to us the raw electrical signal. We have tried to do this using a pre made LiDAR. However, we found that it does not return to us the raw electrical signal. Instead it returns the distance and strength and such, where the information is returned in the form of bytes. Does anybody here know whether or not it is possible to make one's own LiDAR which would be capable of returning the raw electrical signal? And what this would look like/ what type of components it would be made up of? Thanks in advance, we could really use some help.

Kind regards,
Emma

What sort of raw data are you expecting to receive ? A voltage proportional to the distance, perhaps, or something else ?

You will the following components:

  • LASER diode
  • LASER driver/modulator
  • Phodiode
  • Photodiode Transimpedance amplifier
  • Lenses
  • Maybe some optical filters?
You will need to design and build a PCB
