Hey I wanted to know do I have to solder a potentiometer, can I not use a breadboard?
Mine has three little pins which happen to fit into the breadboard, so yeah, I can.

Depends on the the type of potentionmeter you get. Some lend themselves fine for solderless breadboard
use:
Other do not without soldering wire to them for insertion into your bread board:

You can get potentiometers whose pins are spaced at 0.1" for use in a breadboard. While I'm still at the breadboard stage, I will mention that of all the components I've put in my breadboards, the rotary pots and trimpots seem to be the most likely to jump out and disconnect themselves from the circuit. So, I'm always pressing the pots down to make sure they are still connect.
