Do i need a Mavlink to connect my Arduino Uno to MissionPlanner?

XD Hi all

I'm starting off in Arduino, Got a little starter kit

And now i'm trying to just setup MissionPlanner with my Arduino Uno R3

For some reason when i click "Connect" in Mission Planner, it says "Connecting Mavlink" and "Trying to Connect" then "No Heatbeat packets received" when i click "Details" it shows all that in the below image...

and if i try to upload a firmware (Via the MissionPlanner software) i constantly get this Error "Check Port settings or Port in use?" "Access to COM3 is denied" and "Error uploading firmware" although i can upload codes via the Arduino IDE... any ideas?

I'm connecting the Arduino Uno board just like that, without any mavlink or motors to the PC..

So is there anything that i'm missing?
I really can't find a solution to this..

Please Have a look at the two error screen shots that i attached.

Thanks
Help will be greatly appreciated

I have the same problem. Do you solved it?

I want to connect my GPS module to an Ground Station, and when I tried Mission Planner I also had this same problem.

I think I shouldn't be using the Arduino Uno to make this connection. Which hardware is more appropriate to display telemetry data on Mission Planner?
