Does LM2596S module input voltage affect output voltage?

Hi.

I am trying to make a 5v Arduino speedometer for a bicycle. It is powered by a dynamo, that provides dc output.

As I am powering it with a dynamo, I know that the power will vary according to my cycling speed (but always higher than 7v).But however much power there is, I want a constant 5v output. I have considered using a linear voltage regulator but they are too inefficient. But I want to know that if the input voltage varies on a LM2596S buck converter module, will the output voltage also vary?

Thank you.

It is not supposed to!

That is why it is called a "regulator"!

OK thanks for your time.

In datasheets the "Line regulation" specification is the one saying how much effect the input voltage has
on the output. This will be a fraction of a percent for most regulators.
