Does OLED screen detatch off board?

Hey all

Looking to get the more popular OLED Display 0.96″ 128×64 I2C SSD1306 Blue for Arduino, and was wondering if the display can come of the board, while still connected to the ribbon cable. I want the ugly backing to be hidden underneath material, with the ribbon cable and display only visible.

If it doesn't, are there any small OLED screens which are not attached to the board which are cheap?
