downloading drum sounds

I wondered if anyone knows if you can power the Aduino with a battery so you can play the drums on the piezos without being hooked into the computer?
Can you download the sounds and then unplug the USB cable?
I want to make a tiny drum set that I can hear in my headphones.
I appreciate the advice, this is a cool gadget!

The good news is that you can do it. The bad news is that there is not much room for the samples only about 800 bytes so they are not going to sound very good.
However, you could make some analogue percussion type synth circuits and trigger that from the Arduino, sort of circa 808 type sounds.

Or you could add a wave shield and use that to generate the sounds.

Hello Tado,

You can power the arduino using battery or 9v power supply from wall socket.

I don't think the arduino has enough memory hold mp3's even if they are short drum sounds, you might either need to extend the memory on the board or get a shield that does the job for you, I suggest looking at adafruit or clicking this link it was suggested in an earlier post and might be what you need:

sorry grumpy mike i was writing mine as you posted yours.
