Downsizing the USB

Not sure if this is the appropriate place for the topic...

The Arduino UNO comes with a large bulky USB connection, was wondering if anyone has tried to hook up a micro USB or even just standard USB to it?

Not sure just what you are getting at, but I have two arduinos and a mega attached to a small board, so I ordered the below short USB cords so I could connect them to a four port USB hub with a minimum of bulky cord.

even just standard USB to it?

It has a standard USB connector so I am not sure what you mean.

up a micro USB

There is no electrical reason why you can't do this, the problem is mechanical. These are surface mount parts and so are hard to deal with without the correct soldering equipment. I think you can get break out boards however so look at Sparkfun or AdaFruit.

There are other Arduino compatibles with mini and possibly micro USB connectors
if you look - the ones I know are the Seeedstudios boards. These days micro USB
is the standard for phones so I expect future Arduinos will be micro USB (the Due
is for instance).

Like Sparkfun Micro
