DPTP center off switch

how would i hook a dptp center off switch up if i just have one positive input and two positive outputs, like if i wanted it to be a spdp.

If you meant DPDT, center off switch, just use one side of the switch, three terminals in a row, that would be using it as a SPDT center off switch. Positive input wire goes to center terminal, two output positives wire to the two outside terminals.

ahh i did that, well let me tell you about what i am trying to do, i have a 555 timer hooked up to 2 4017 decade counters, each of those is connected to the leds that make up the turn signals of my backpack...

when i turn on the witch its supposed to give power to either the left or right 4017 and in turn make the arrows turn on in a certain power...

now when i turn on the right one it works just fine, but the left one doesn't even turn on...

i checked it with a volt meter and it flashes, like the clock of the 555, the wierd thing is that it flashes all the time not only when the witch is turnd on... 0.0 im so confused

Well an ohm meter can help you understand the operation of the switch, if that is the problem. But other then a complete wiring diagram of what you have built and wired, it's almost impossible to help you troubleshoot what you have by words alone.

How do you turn on a witch, tickle her broomstick? :-/
