Drivers stopped working?

Hi,

Please someone lend a digital hand with this because something is about to go flying out of the window. Whether it's a handful of arduino uno's, a monitor or a desktop tower, I haven't yet decided. ::slight_smile:

I've been using uno's for over a year. Installed and run on a 4 machines, with no problems at all.

Then today, my main workshop PC has decided it doesn't want to recognise them any more.
In device manager, they report as Code 43, "a request for the usb device descriptor has failed", which, as far as my understanding goes, is that it's not assigning the drivers to it.

So, I uninstalled my 1.0.5 IDE, taking the opportunity to move up to 1.0.6. Problem still exists.
I've tried different ports, even a totally fresh out of the packet board, to no avail.

Attempting in device manager to update the driver software by doing the following:
Update driver software -> browse my computer for driver software -> \drivers
would tell me that my driver software for 'unknown usb device' is up to date.

Update driver software -> browse my computer -> let me pick from a list -> have disk -> \drivers
I get 'the folder you specified doesn't contain a compatible software driver for your device' yada yada yada.

Attempting to run the driver installer in \drivers just returns immediately, saying that Arduino LLC USB driver is ready for use.

I'm totally stumped, and really, really frustrated. I apologise if this comes across in the language of my post here.

Any help would be most appreciated.

Regards
-- Cosford.

Update: I've got it working again, sort of. I don't know what the hell is wrong with this but it is working and anger is slowly subsiding. Lol.

I believe I have it working again fine for now, but I will come back if it acts up again.
