Hi guys. I want to build a drumkit (at least 12 pieces) that will use microphones as input sensors and output midi events via usb (or maybe 'custom' events that will be processed to midi on the pc) . Sort of hardware drumagog. never used Arduino before, is it suitable for such project?

Sure - got to process the mic outputs to make viable interrupts for the code to act upon, and then send midi messages out.
I have a box full of old telephone mouthpiece microphones (the round kind that sat under the handset when they still screwed on & off, way back before digital & VOIP) that I plan to use someday.
Use the peak as the volume of what gets sent out.
