Is it possible to amend a code with rtd defined as ds1307 to ds1302 i understand the ds1302 has 3 pins where as the ds1307 has the std two pins

I don't understand what you're asking... Are you trying to alter the DS1307 library to work with the DS1302? There's a DS1302 library available and I've used it many times without having to alter it.
