If you follow the topic Arcade homebrew you will find i am trying to create my own arcade board. Is this possible with the Arduino? How would i hook it up to a display to show sprites and stuff? Any assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Your first and major problem is getting some sort of video output. I tried here:
Timing is tight for VGA, and there isn't much spare time for processing.

Someone did a Tetris game using an Arduino.
Personally I think it is a bit underpowered for this application.
