Dual 7-segment red green display

Hello everyone,

Just wanted to start by saying this is my first post and I have never seen, touched, or programmed a 7-segment display.

I am attempting to create a product, starting with a prototype. The goal is to have a dual 7-segment display that displays the numbers 01-99. 01 should be displayed in green, and 02-99 in red. The user presses up and down to increase or decrease the number displayed, and there are no automatic changing of numbers, only manual by the user.

I would like the number height to be about 1 inch, and the best 7-segment I could find that fit these specs was the sba15-11egwa kingbright.

My question is, is the programming of this even possible? How hard would that be for a new user? What do I need to accomplish this? I am fairly tech savvy, and a civil engineer by trade, so I have some faith I could do it. Assuming I fail, are there people out there that I could pay to program this?

Depends on the threshold voltage of the segments.
