Duemilanove gives avrdude: stk500_recv(): programmer is not responding

hi everyone,

I wanted to do something with my arduino duemilanove today after maybe 6 months. I tried to upload a sketch but it gives me the "avrdude: stk500_recv(): programmer is not responding" error
I've read many articles and pages but no fix seems to be working for me. If I press the RESET button on the board, the L led does not even blink. I've tried to upload the code from my Mac and my Ubuntu: got the same error.

What should I do ?

I had D not working a year ago(same error) that came to life now when I updated Arduino IDE to 0022. You may want to try different versions of Arduino IDE and you may experience magic. Or run reset and callback tests. That is how I determined that I had bricked my nano.
