duemilanove serial tx, rx which is what

I want to use the GSM shield. For my project, I will hook it up directly to pins 0 and 1 (TX/RX). Will it work right away? Do I have to know which is TX and which RX and declare it?

I will not be using SoftwareSerial

i'm almost sure you should not declare..

use; Serial.begin(your_speed);

On my duemilanove pin 0 is rx and pin 1 is tx..

On the arduino RX is an input and TX is an output. You will have to check on the equipment you connect it to to make sure that you connect the arduino's RX to your equipments output. That output could be labeled RX or TX depending how it is classed.

This is a GSM shield, you just plug it to your Arduino..
