Hi all
I'm trying to crimp some dupont female connectors but haven't had a successful outcome yet, despite studying many guides. Before I order some more connectors to practice with, I just thought I'd check that what I've purchased is fit for the job:
I feel your pain. I have a similar crimper you show, and it is not that good. I found an old T&B crimper that works good. I would give you the part number but it is no longer visible. I purchased it about 30 years ago for about $150 maybe a bit more. You will need to make adjustments to the one you picture and your crimping hand squeeze needs to be consistent to get consistent results. It is not the same on mail and female pins. There is a difference in the pins themselves. For most of what I do I just purchase already made jumpers and cut them to length when soldering one end. A lot of what I do is in multi pin connectors. If you find a good tool lets know.
Thanks for the replies. I've tried that guide but no joy, my dupont connectors look slightly different in that they don't have the cut out circle on the band beneath.
So I was just wondering if I'd bought the adequate hardware?
