Dynamic Braking

Hi there, i have a line following robot that I'm controlling with the arduino. Does anyone know how to dynamic brake with the arduino?

Presumably there's a motor driver between the arduino and the motor. I believe mine has specific settings for braking although i've never used them.

Worst case, just reverse the current.

if the motor is (can be) controlled by pwm you could change its value.

You could also make a servo lift the wheels from the ground ;)

Hi, What is Dynamic Braking as opposed to Braking ?

What is Dynamic Braking as opposed to Braking ?

I understand it as applying no more force than necessary - sort of ABS system for robots?

What is Dynamic Braking as opposed to Braking ?

Wikipedia says there are 2 types of dynamic braking… One where the motor terminals are “shorted” to brake the motor, and the other is regenerative, where the motor will charge the battery.

One type is easy with arduino, the other is more difficult.

So, three different definitions, A forth could be using an algorithm to simulate momentum under braking in a scale model, I would have guessed at the no more force than necessary myself, but who knows.

Maybe the OP can clarify what they are looking for ?
