Guys,
I'm making a symbol for MOLEX SD-51387-006
pages 2 & 3 of the attached.
I started with an adafruit mini-b because it had similar mechanical mounting thru holes and symbol outline.
How do I get rid of the original thru hole pads?
I can't seem to find any method that will not give an error message:
"Can't delete pad (pad name) because it is connected to a pin."
It's probably in use in a device. Make a copy of the package that isn't in use in any device (or just delete that package from the device, or delete the whole device), and you should be able to mangle it at will.
I didn't see a way to disconnect pins from pads at the package editor. Didn't occur to me to disconnect at the device level as I hadn't done any connecting yet.
I was trying to use an existing adafruit package as a starting point, that's where the symbol and green pads came from.
I can do almost everything but get rid of the green pads.
The MOLEX SD-51387-006 is a mostly surface mount part with thru hole legs for secure attachment to the board.
I was attempting to modify the all-thru hole Adafruit package to have the needed SMD pads, and alter the roud thru-hole attaching pins to be ovals on the bottom of the board only to match the molex defined footprint.
I can't get rid of the original thru hole pads for the signal pins tho.
Here are the steps I did.. (add your steps where they need to be for your own unique part)
I did the following the determine I could in fact delete any green pad on the stage.,
1.) Opened Eagle
2.) Opened Adafruit library..
3.) Clicked on the "DEVICE" icon
4.) On the right pane/panel I chose (double clicked) the package I wanted to 'edit' (in this case: USB-MINIB-THM-MOLEX)
5.) I disconnected the pins I wanted (all?) (click 'ok' when done)
6.) Click on "PACKAGE" icon... (scroll down to your part name: USB-MINIB-THM-MOLEX)
Edit/delete as you see fit..
if you have already copied this part to a new/custom library.. you can just save after the edits.. be careful of overwriting current part in Adafruit lib.
I dont understand how to disconnect the pins.
I need to remove the 2 inner pins of this audio jack part from the sparkfun lib: http://i.minus.com/ibvcxIikKJGE6b.png
