EasyDriver as toaster

I'm using Arduino UNO driving 3 EasyDriver stepper controllers
Software and Hardeware all working
but...

the EasyDriver chips are getting very warm
stinging hot to the touch
they keep soldiering on, but...

what's the best way to add a heatsink to the A3967 chips?

btw the project is a CNC mill
Mk I (proof of concept) is up and running, but probably needs better motors for Mk II (the real thing)
motors scavenged from scanners

The heatsink provided by design is PCB only, you need more, and only the top surface of chip is available to you. Unless you wann lay out your own EasyDriver PCB.

May I suggest a cheeep CPU cooler, clamp your EasyDrivers "tango uniform" on its flat surface using just a drop of thermal grease.

thanks
I thought it might come to that!
