Edit screen problem on iPhone

On 2025-05-14, I have a problem editing responses on the site with my iPhone (iPhone SE 2, iOS 18.4.1, Safari) because the first few lines of the edit box are covered by the header. Screen shot in process...

Arh the problem is in replies:

When you start editing in the edit box, the iPhone keyboard pushes up onto the screen, pushing the edit box up under the header, as in the above.

➜ indeed seems a problem for me too but not as much (only part of the 1 is hidden)

Android seems to work. Try clicking the cheeseburger/menu to force editing tools to show, or tilting your phone to force a switch between landscape and portrait and a screen re-draw. Maybe during fullscreen (PC) edit you dragged the message box "up?" (I can't figure out my Android screen shot with a live keyboard... screenshots require a "swipe" which presses every key on the keyboard... or maybe I am just thick).

Maybe my screen is smaller compared to yours--On mine it cuts off the top 2.5 lines.

Landscape is worse:

The entire edit box is off-screen.

I can't figure out my Android screen shot with a live keyboard...

My kid keeps trying to train me & said "only olds do it like [my way]. Everybody just does..." and I keep forgetting. [ios screen shots, android].

Android has a "back" button that I use to go from this...

... to this...

(btw - this "olds" finally asked the internets how to screenshot)

In this screenshot you can see the black cursor where it is positioned at the end of line 1 but with the header overlaying the text.

Not long ago It used to be usable, not this either-keyboard-or-editbox UI fail

"Discourse" is making changes to fullscreen and mobile format. Seen a few days ago... but now it looks like they are in "fallback" (the search bubble moved back to the right side of the top bar)... I can understand chaos in any version change... I got kicked out of reviewing for noticing typeos in build scripts, requiring re-certification... those were fun times.

I see that a relevant looking fix was made yesterday:

Arduino Forum is still using a version of Discourse from before the time of that fix, but we receive frequent updates. So hopefully the problem as it affects users of this forum will be resolved in the near future.

Thx - indeed still seeing the issue as I type this (I only see the bottom half of my first line). Finger crossed you get the update quickly!

Same here on my iPhone 23 Pro. Jmm, well it was a minute ago, now I can see NOTHING of what I’m typing!

And viewing my post after sending it I see just half of the final line before I added this edit.

Oh. and my iPhone is a 13 Pro, not a 23.

BTW, I don’t now see how to format any part of this edit?

Still unsolved indeed and no access to the toolbar…

If you use your web browser to check the source of any forum page, you will see an HTML meta tag like this:

<meta name="generator" content="Discourse 3.5.0.beta5-dev - https://github.com/discourse/discourse version 105f5eca8ca25379137a4f6ced8e6020a0e288a6">

The 105f5eca8ca25379137a4f6ced8e6020a0e288a6 part is the Git commit hash of the version of the Discourse software currently being used by Arduino Forum, which we can view on GitHub:

https://github.com/discourse/discourse/commit/105f5eca8ca25379137a4f6ced8e6020a0e288a6

So you can see that it still hasn't been updated to the revision that contains the fix which was introduced by commit a9c648dff415a9a4293644a26a22c62d07526331:

https://github.com/discourse/discourse/commit/a9c648dff415a9a4293644a26a22c62d07526331

So per

...Arduino is running on commits up to the 13th, and the fix was committed on the 14th.

So will have to type those little backquotes manually when entering code for a bit longer

I see the forum's version of the Discourse framework has been updated to a version that has the bug fix I mentioned previously in the topic. Are you still experiencing the problem now?

Seems to be all good now - I can see the toolbar and my text.

Looks fine now:

Looks like you can mark the topic as solved
