Education Account Setup

I am trying to get our school's education account activated. We purchased the Education Kits, as well as started the school account via free trial (there didn't seem to be another option). When we try to create a shared space however we do not have this option in our cloud (as it appears we are still under the free version), how can we access the education account features to get this set up?

Hi @anon54024360. Did you follow the tutorial here?:

https://docs.arduino.cc/arduino-cloud/education/shared-spaces/#create-a-shared-space-for-your-classroom

Yes, it does not give any options to create the shared space

OK, it looks like that tutorial is outdated. I will notify the documentation team of the problem so that others won't suffer from the same confusion.

Please try this:

  1. Click the following link to open the Arduino Cloud home page:
    https://app.arduino.cc/
  2. If you are not already, sign into the Arduino account that has the "School" Arduino Cloud plan.
  3. Click on the UI component at the top left corner of the Arduino Cloud home page, which shows your Arduino account name and avatar.
    A menu will open.
  4. At the top of the menu, you should see a "My Cloud" item, and one other item below it, which might have the default name "My Company". Select that second item from the menu.
  5. Click on "Space Settings" in the navigation panel on the left side of the page.

You can now set up the shared space. There are multiple pages of settings for the space. You can access them by selecting the items from the navigation panel on the left side of the page.

The items at the top of the menu you saw in step (3) of the instructions allow you to switch between the "spaces" to which your account has access. The "My Cloud" item is for your private space, to which only you have access, and which does not have the sharing features.

Please let us know if you have any questions or problems while following those instructions.

Thanks so much for your response, this is what I'm seeing:

OK, then this means you are not a member of the shared space. Someone who is a member of the space, and who has the "Admin" role in the space, will need to add you to the space. If you are to do setup for the space, they should assign you the "Admin" role when they add you as a member. Otherwise, they can assign you the "Teacher" role.

I am the only user for the education account. It shows that we are still under the "free account", as we did the 30 day trial (entered cc info etc...), but that the education features are not active until the 30 day trial is up? If that's the case, how can I access those features and essentially bipass the "free trial" phase?

That is not the case. I just signed up for a "School" plan, so I am under the free first 30 days. My account works just as I described in my previous reply. You receive the full functionality of the plan you subscribe to even during the first 30 days when it is free of charge.

Please check the "My Plans" page here:

https://digital-store.arduino.cc/subscriptions/plans

Does that page contain a "School Plan" entry for your account?:

Note that it is expected that the page will also contain an "FREE PLAN" entry, as the plan used for your private space is separate from the "School" plan used for the shared space.
