electric splitter

so i am looking for any tutorial guide or resurces about connecting arduino with electric splitter, basically what i want to do is turn on and off some splitter with arduino.
i think i would know to programm it but not sure about connecting it (ie. wireing it)
any help much appreciated, love this forum and open source

What on earth is an "electric splitter"? I did a web search, and basically it comes
up with electric log splitters.

He is showing you a picture... It could be done with a relay... BUT YOU ARE WORKING WITH MAINS POWER. A VERY DANGEROUS THING TO DO ESPECIALLY AT 220 VAC. THERE IS ALSO THE P[POTENTIAL FOR FIRE AS WELL. THIS IS NOT RECOMMENDED BECAUSE OF THE DANGEROUS SITUATION. TRY TO FIMD A COMMERCIAL SOLUTION FOR THIS PROBLEM FIRST.

If the voltage is 120 V ac, maybe use a Power Switch tail.

Switch is rated 125V, so not suitable for UK 240v.

He is showing you a picture...

Picture wasn't there initially. Looks like a european thingamajig. Should be relatively
easy to do with relays, and fairly safe, since relays are made specifically to
isolate switching from switched voltage.

hm thx for answer the thingy is called relay and i actually managed to find some tutorials about it but not commercial solution for 220v ( europe)
