electrical noise ?

Hi Guys wanted to ask some advice on a possible noisy signal

i have a digital speed sensor and a loadcell that are connected to an electric motor

i appear to be getting noise on the loadcell voltage

what should i use here

do i use a choke/ inductor

a small capacitor across the loadcell voltage

or some kind of low pass filter

thanks in advance

What is a load cell?
Where is the schematic?

the load cell outputs a dc voltage based on how hard the motor is twisting

the voltage is amplified by a load cell amplifier

do i use a choke/ inductor

a small capacitor across the loadcell voltage

or some kind of low pass filter

Yes
Yes
Yes

hi MIke

thanks for the advice

is there some type of shielded signal wire that i should consider also ?

Not that I know of.
It is just a matter of trying things until it is good enough.

If this is a brushed DC motor, try adding a 0.1uF capacitor across the motor terminals. Brushed DC motors are very noisy.

It's very hard to advise you without a schematic. Noise on the power and/or ground lines to the load cell and its amplifier may well be the source of the problem. In particular, the ground wires to the load cell and its amplifier must be completely separated from the other ground wires, e.g. the ones supplying power to the Arduino (if that is what you are using) and the motor driver.
