Electronic calculator (resistor, capacitor,etc...)

I came across a good software, take a look at it (Electronics 2000)

From the developer web page:

Electronics Assistant V4.1 Available FREE

All the Electronics 2000 online calculators and more in a stand-alone application

Converts Resistor & Inductor colour codes, calculates LED series resistors, capacitance units, series / parallel resistors & capacitors, frequency, reactance & more

Calculation of nearest preferred resistor values with a choice of 5 series from E12 to E192

Print & save calculation results

Quick access to Windows® Calculator and up to 3 user-defined programs from the toolbar

Information panels showing theory and equations can be hidden to save space when not required

Windows® 98, ME, 2000, XP, Vista, 7, Linux (via WINE)

Cool.

Anyone with an iPhone or iPod touch might like to try out OhmEE. Color code lookup and Ohm's law calculator.

Cruel Dad that I am I had my son go through my unsorted resistors with it. He enjoyed it really! I did pay him too

That's how I learned the resistor colour code, I had a bag of assorted resistors and a small colour code wheel. After I had catalogued them all I never needed to look up a resistor again I just know the colours.

Me too, although I wish they would make the bands a bit wider, my eyesight just isn't up to the job these days.

It is a good exercise though. My son also tested them with the multimeter when he wasn't sure, so now he knows the difference between 'precision' and 'accuracy' as well!
