Does the motor always turn one way or does it turn one way to lock and the other way to unlock?If it reverses I would expect the transistors near the connector to be an H-bridge. You should be able to tap in between the processor and H-bridge to both sense the motor being activated and override the controls.
Would you mind showing me where the h-bridge is?
