I believe I just fried my adxl321 accelerometer I bought from sparkfun so I looked online for a cheaper alternative:

This one uses the same chip as sparkfun with only 45% the cost, isn't that typical with sparkfun?! The thing is, has anyone purchased from them before? Thanks.
Element14 is an arm of Newark, which is an arm of Premier-Farnell, one of the largest distributors in the world.
It's safe
In fact if you get it from Newark it's actually a bit cheaper (promo price):

The Flexible MIDI Shield: MIDI IN/OUT, stacking headers, your choice of I/O pins
Yes, its normal, sparkfun markup is something around 100% and 1000% the real price.
Sorry. I got the wrong impression. The $13.6 was just the chip. The evaluation board was $32. Looks like I still have to pay $30 for this thing. Man!
Can I fix it with a new chip? Too difficult?
Have you ever reworked a LFCSP package before?
It's not for the faint of heart.

The Ruggeduino: compatible with Arduino UNO, 24V operation, all I/O's fused and protected
Have you ever reworked a LFCSP package before? smiley-eek

Bah - Bring out the chisel tip soldering iron
I have not. I've twice tossed the dead board in the trash. I should go get it back while my wife is not looking. Maybe a future version of me can handle this challenge.
Well firstly it shouldn't be going in the trash as it's an electronic item so it should be taken to be recycled at your local waste/recycling centre and secondly, always best to keep them - never know when they might come in handy
