English question but somehow linked with this forum

Unusual question for this forum, I know:)
What is a proper English word for a sound the turning shaft of the rotary encoder makes.
Rattle?

Please record the sound and post the audio file as an attachment.

rattle would seem fine for me but I'm not a native speaker.

You can get plenty of ideas from cambridge dictionary ➜ Sounds made by objects, movement or impact. There is surely one fitting the needs. clicking away may be ?

Hi,
A most rotary encoders that have detents, makes a "clicking" noise, so each detent is a "click".

Tom.. :+1: :coffee: :australia:
PS; " There is surely one fitting the needs. clicking away may be ?".. pun intended?
