"Error Compiling." On Blink example?!

Problem!!! :~ I purchased an Arduino UNO R3 on eBay. I got the Arduino yesterday and plugged it in to my computer, with the included USB cable. The drivers were already installed, and I ran the Arduino IDE program. I set the board to UNO and serial port to the only one, COM6. I then went to File|Examples|01. Basics|Blink
and Uploaded it. It then said:

Error Compiling.

I:\Program Files\Arduino\hardware\tools\avr\bin\avr-g++ -c -g -Os -w -fno-exceptions -ffunction-sections -fdata-sections -MMD -mmcu=atmega328p -DF_CPU=16000000L -DARDUINO=152 -II:\Program Files\Arduino\hardware\arduino\avr\cores\arduino -II:\Program Files\Arduino\hardware\arduino\avr\variants\standard K:\build6152672957396691655.tmp\Fade.cpp -o K:\build6152672957396691655.tmp\Fade.cpp.o

I run Windows 8 Professional and I don't know what is happening and I am worried I've done something wrong!

It then said:

There are no errors in the stuff you posted. It appears that you have turned verbose output on. If you don't want to see all that, turn verbose mode off.

Yeah, I know, but it still says Error compiling once I turn it off.

So, there error messages don't warrant posting?

Sorry, I don't understand. Could you rephrase that?

Could you rephrase that?

You have a problem. You haven't shown what that problem is. A screen shot would the bare minimum. Although, cut and paste is preferred, if possible. Show us what the problem is. Besides your choice of operating systems.

Hi Arduino Lord, did you solve the problem? I was having the same problem but finally got it sorted. Let me know if you still need assistance, thanks.

PaulBT, I'm very interested in how you sorted this out. I have a similar problem: Status bar warns “Error compiling.” and console is empty - IDE 1.x - Arduino Forum

Hey, i guess this worked out the equations, at least,in my 'Windows 8 Single language' platform:
mouse right click on exec icon, go to property, then security tab and use compatibility mode; select windows XP, service pack 3;
i run arduino as administrator too.
hope that helps!

Sorry guys, I've been away. Here is a screenshot: If you need anything else just say. :stuck_out_tongue:

No, no I didn't. I used Windows 7 on my Dual Boot instead, but I mainly use Windows 8, so it would be nice for a fix now anyway.

WORKED!! Adding Karma.

Oh, that is classic! XD

Kudos.

Yeah. I know. Windows 8 is what came with the PC and I don't qualify for downgrading. :frowning:
