Error message, no programmer has been specified on the command line.

I am working on this sound sensor for school and just when I thought it was done this error code came up

no programmer has been specified on the command line or the config file
Specify a programmer using the -c option and try again.

Please help if you know how to fix this.

What board are you compiling for? What version of the IDE?

I am using the Arduino UNO R3 and version1.6.8.

I am facing the same problem too. Arduino said there is an update available for something and after doing that update this problem showed up.

Edit : People say updating IDE to version 1.6.9 solved their problem in this topic Fail to load my first program - Installation & Troubleshooting - Arduino Forum
