Good morning,

we had the same error code in the log file 0x80070643. Our try to repair .Net 3.5 framework on Windows 10 was for our case not the issue.

Our solution is to install the Arduino PLC IDE is to set the environment variable ARDUINO_NETWORK_PROXY to our proxy. Detailed information to this environment variable see in the documentation Configuration - Arduino CLI

For our setup we're using CNTLM to handle the authentication process against our proxy. e.g. we're starting CNTLM on localhost at port 3128 ... so we set the environment variable to ARDUINO_NETWORK_PROXY=http://localhost:3128

Inside the setup process of the EXE package an MSI package will be extracted. One of the step is the Arduino CLI download some files from the internet. So you need an active internet connection.

If this not fit to solve your issue - it maybe helps to get the "real" error message.

Our way to find this solution:

  1. Extract MSI package from EXE (Open setup and do nothing, find the MSI inside the %temp% folder. For more details see here: https://www.codetwo.com/kb/msi-from-exe/)
  2. Start MSI package over the CLI: msiexec /i arduino_plc_installer.msi /log installer.log
  3. After error message look into the installer.log

On our case we're saw "arduino-cli.exe .... unable to download ....".

A real shame for a product supposed to be pro !

It turns out the software requires internet connection, while the software AND hardware are both configured. This can be extremely challenging in situations where there is no internet / or corporate restrictions prevent one.

I hope the developers come up with a stand-alone install.

Yes, absolutly right and agree.
Better to have a downloadable definition file for an offline installation.

I finally succeded 1.0.7 installation after disabling windows folder watching and removing "T" folder under Users\user_name\AppData\Local\

We also have a problem connecting the Portenta MC with the PLC IDE software
I have since noted on different Arduino forums for Portenta MC and also Opta that the PLC IDE has a general problem and won't connect with the two platforms.
Arduino, -Please, please,,, ensure the software is corrected ASAP, and inform us when this is completed.
