What choices for serial port do you get in the IDE before and after you plug the board in?
Hi,
What operating system are you using and IDE?
Have you been able to upload sketches before this happened.
Tom......
To answer both questions I am using Windows 8.1, and the COM options say COM 3 Arduino. This is my first time using an Arduino product and so far I am getting what I expected a learning curve.
Cris
If the port is busy, that means the port is being used by something else. Try unplugging it and replugging.
Unplugged, and plugged and this is the error I just received
Arduino: 1.6.4 (Windows 8.1), Board: "Arduino Uno"
Sketch uses 1,030 bytes (3%) of program storage space. Maximum is 32,256 bytes.
Global variables use 9 bytes (0%) of dynamic memory, leaving 2,039 bytes for local variables. Maximum is 2,048 bytes.

Isaac I went there last night and verified the USB driver was installed properly, is there another step that isn't listed on the forum? I would allow someone to remote into my machine if need be to get this bug worked out.
Update just got blink to work with out the UNO being connected with the GSheild.
What GShield? You never mentioned a shield.
well i was testing my Arduino to get the blink running once I had that I was going to connect my gsheild for my xcarve and see if i could still sucessfully upload the blink. Once I uploaded the blink that way I am now at the point where easel still refuses to see its on COM 3 and I have trouble shot all the java errors I initially had. To be clear I am attempting to get my XCarve to work hopefully by tonight. EST.

Hey Cris. I am having the same exact error like yours when i am trying to download the code. How did you manage to solve it? It is very annoying to have this kind of problem and i was doing my projects just fine before today.
Come on guys and gals. There are some newbies out there needing help. How about trying to help instead of coming back with the snappy come backs. I think we all run into problems that we just can't figure out how to solve. May the next time you have a problem and ask for help someone will give you some short smart mouth reply like I have seen recently on this forum. If you don't have any constructive help just mind your own business and don't say anything.
