Error Uploading Code

I'm trying to upload my code to an Arduino Uno board and I get this error:

"avrdude: ser_open(): can't open device "\.\COM4": The system cannot find the file specified."

What do I do here?

Check the COM port that the IDE thinks it is using.

If you unplug the Arduino from the PC does the COM port disappear from the ports list in the IDE ?
