I don't know what d error is but it says "error uploading code toArduino genuino/uno".
Please I am tired I don't have a laptop I go to cyber cafe everyday starving myself just to get this code uploaded . I need d final solution to this problem of uploading to my board.
You need to post the error message.
All of it.
1-control cables
2-make sure you used last version of arduino
3-make sure your board is working and it is not too old

Why the latest version of the IDE? I'm still on 1.8.5 and have no issues.

Boards can be old and still work 
what board you use ? Is this board selected from ide/tools/boards menu?
what serial? Is this serial selected from ide/tools/port menu?
Are you using a chinese clone with ch340 usb interface? Did you install correctly driver?

The IDE versions around 1.8.5 had a bug that could make startup time of the IDE super slow:
This bug was fixed in Arduino IDE 1.8.6. On my computer, 1.8.5 takes a minute to load, which 1.8.9 takes 24 seconds. I hate it when I have to go back and use 1.8.5 for this reason.
I have not used newer version so can't compare
