Error uploading sketch Duinotech Uno with Wi-Fi ATmega328P

Hi,

Totally newbie question. I am totally pulling what little hair I have left out.

I have tried to follow all the tutorials to upload a sketch to the Duinotech Uno with Wi-Fi ATmega328P. However, every time I try, the upload fails with the error:

avrdude: stk500_recv(): programmer is not responding
avrdude: stk500_getsync() attempt 1 of 10: not in sync: resp=0x21

I am using the Arduino IDE 2.2.1 and have tried all manner of selections for Board + Port.

Currently have Arduino Uno Wifi and Port 6. When disconnecting the board, the port selection greys out. Plugging into a different port shows a different port number.

Can some legend please provide some guidance on what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks

is the right board selected in the IDE?

I have tried every single option in the IDE. All of them give the same result.

The Uno or Uno Wifi are the ones I thought would have worked but they give the same result. So , then I tried every single one in the list and all give the same result.

I"m about 10 hours in and still have not uploaded a sketch :frowning:

In the IDE what should be selected in the Programmer option please?

Any guidance greatly appreciated.

When I try to get the board information, this is what shows. Is this normal / correct?

Thanks

did you read the documentation and set the switches appropriately?

Hi,

Thanks. I hadn't seen that. I saw the dip switches but it has a plastic cover over them. I tried levering off but it didn't want to come off, and I didn't want to force it off.

I will try to get it off and see if it helps.

Thanks

Any tips on the best way to get the little plastic cover off the dip switches without breaking anything please?

Thanks

HI J-M-L,

Thanks legend! You were spot on. After setting the dip switches to the correct settings... working as expected.

First step into the wide world of Arduino!

Thanks so much.

Cheers

glad to hear! (you can probably push the switches through the cover if it's soft enough)

have fun

(this board is not widely used around the forum)

Hi J-M-L,

Thanks again. I purchased 4 of these from AliExpress and when could not get them to work, I went to JayCar and bought the same board again to see if it was me (99.99999% certain) or the boards.

So, now I have a few of these to play with and probably destroy. What is a common board which would be well used if I have questions. I don't need wifi so don't know why I purchased these ones!

Thanks again.

Cheers

classic Uno, Mega, Nano would have been fine then (and better known)

anyway, it's good to have stuff to play with, may be in the future you would leverage WiFi (although I would recommend in that case to go to ESP32 or similar)!

Brillaint thanks. I'm off to play with TinkerCad now to work on some designs. Thanks again!

Cheers
