I've been searching for days and have ready many threads on this. I am coming to the conclusion that my ESP8266 shield is dead on arrival. Can you help me confirm?
Here's what I got: * Arduino Uno R3 * ESP-12E ESP8266 UART WIFI Wireless Shield
By itself, the Uno works without issue. But as soon as I attach the shield I'm no longer able to program the Uno. If I set the DIP switches to 0-0-0-0 AND bend the D0/D1 pins out of the way so they are not connected to the Uno, then I can again program the Uno.
However, as soon as I turn the DIP switches to 1-1-0-0 both boards die. No lights, no response. Totally dead. If I flip the switches back to 0-0-0-0 they both come alive.
What am I missing? Is my shield defective/broken?
