Hi, I want to run 5 esp32's from my tractors 12v battery, while operating it. We all know how bad a vehicles voltage spike with startups etc. Would a car phone charger with a 5volt output be safe for this? It works fine for charging a phone, but I'm not sure in who's circuitry all the safeties are build in(tractor, charger or phone), and what safety is build in on the 5vin pin of the esp32?
If not, then any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks
5 piece's of controller..... Why? More than one controller usually create other system design issues to solve. Never mind.
A long time ago, very long, a home designed and built car computer ran for 10 years without failure. The powering was done by a heatsinked 7805.....
If it resists electrical noise better than modern switched power modules, I can't tell.
What's the big picture of the project?
There are product lines developed to address the harsh conditions of an automotive environment. Example, AmazonSmile: DC 12v 24v to 5v Step Down Converter Regulator 5A 25W Power Adapter Reducer for Car Electronics Truck Vehicle Boat Solar System (Accept DC 8-40V Inputs) : Electronics.
On the planter I'll have 4 esp's, with 12 sound sensors each, slaving to one esp in tractor cab that'll run the leds for each individual sensor, but for now I'm just figuring the power supply.
I'll have 12v running from tractor battery to planter from where I will have to convert safely to 5v for esp32 vin pin
Alright. Having a second cousin being a farmer I get the picture.
As I'm not familiar with esp32's I don't know their capabilities. You have likely researched the field and know it handles sound well enough.
Pay attention the reply from @Idahowalker
This is the one I use:
I got 2 of those in use.
Thanks Idahowalker and SteveMann, exactly what I need
