This is getting sillier. What is "borgorland" and what is expensive?
A WeMOS D1 Mini is hardly expensive. Less than $5 even with the inflated COvid-19 shipping costs. Mind you, it will not arrive for a few weeks.
Then by absolute definition you cannot program an ESP8266 if you do not have an ESP8266. An Arduino Nano does not resemble an ESP8266 in any respect. 
Exactly what did the teacher expect you to do? Why did they not provide the ESP8266? Have you actually discussed this with the teacher?
