ESP8266 module in a home use commercial product?

Is the ESP8266 module stable enough to use in home automation commercial products?
Simple use the nodemcu module + 4 channel relays to control home lights/switches? For prototyping it works fine, just wondering if its robust enough (in terms of voltage, reliability etc) for making into a commercial product.

The ESP8266 is used in quite a few commercial home automation products. Here's an example:

It's also used in many DIY home automation projects.

I think it's definitely possible to create something that's reliable. It's also possible to create something that will be an unreliable nightmare for the user. I'm sure some of the commercial products on the market fall into that category as well.
