ESP8266 Server/Client - Read input on server and output on client

The other thing you could experiment with is using other protocols such as UDP or WebSockets as I mentioned earlier. I have no practical experience of these so I can't say if these will really bring anything.
ESP32 boards (generally) have 2 processor cores so a simple hardware upgrade could bring something also.

Yes, i thought about ESP32 but need to re-write the code, or parts of it, as now i use ESP8266 libraries. Will give it a try as 32 is much faster HW.
