Wondering if anyone has a source for an Ethernet connector that's compatible with this, for a similar price:
seeedstudio used to have a part that seemed pin-compatible from Hanrun, but it's not on their web store any more. The part has been out of stock at Sparkfun for a while.
I've tried searching at digikey and mouser, but I'm either getting lost in the search process or I don't know enough about Ethernet hardware, because I can't find anything that seems compatible for anywhere close to the same price.
I should clarify my first post - I've already designed and ordered a PCB with the pinout for the two components I mentioned in mind, so I need something pin-compatible. I checked the first you linked and it isn't; I'll check the rest.
The Hanrun part seeedstudio had seems somewhat common - it seems to be the component of choice for many Arduino Ethernet interfaces, so I'm hoping someone has a source for that very part or at least something compatible. Googling the part number stamped on the part hasn't turned anything up. . .
Edit - the last link you posted is ALMOST the same part seeed used to have (one character off in the part number) and is ALMOST pin compatible - some of the pins are off by a small enough amount that I might just buy some and try them. Thanks!
Sorry - didn't know you needed pin-compatibility. Glad I posted something though that may help you.
What you might try doing is contacting the seller, and asking him if he can help you find the exact part you need; some sellers are more than happy to help you find it.
I ended up finding a seller on eBay that had some - bought them that way.
It's frustrating that things like this don't have an industry-wide pinout, and seem highly variable. How are you supposed to design something and have it viable 2 or 3 years later if suppliers are always coming and going and there's no insurance that the part will exist? When I started this design a few months ago, Sparkfun and Seeed both had tons of these things in stock, and they were being used on many of the commercial ENC20J60-based interfaces, so I figured they were a safe bet. Now, they're next to impossible to find. . .
