Ethernet intercom

I would like to run an ethernet intercom using my arduino board and ethernet shield.
Basically, I have set up an electret connected it through my uno. I would like the audio to go through my uno to my pc, over ethernet, and the voice to be heard on my PC speakers.
I am a newbie to arduino and not sure if this is possible. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
So far I thought of saving the audio to my SD card and then replaying it through the PC "on demand." I would prefer "streaming" audio if possible. Is this possible? Please advise.
Regards and thanks in advance.

To realize it you need an audio preamplifier to raise the signal of your mic. Then you have to add an A/D converter to the board. So from with digitalized audio you can convert them to an ethernet frame and send it.

But, I suppose that an arduino will never enough fast to analyse an get the digital audio...

May be someone else may have an nice idea.
