Ethernet module not showing local IP

I have been constantly trying to get the Local ip that has been assigned to my ethernet shield.I uploaded the local ip sketch and the serial monitor doesn't show any thing.

I uploaded DHCP chatserver which says that the server is at 0.0.0.0.

I hope someone could fix this.I am a newbie in networking.

Besides your code, you should post which ethernet shield you are using. There are a few different types, and some do not run with the standard ethernet library.

Make sure the ethernet shield is properly seated and aligned in the proper holes.
