I have a arduino ethernet board (http://www.arduino.cc/en/Main/ArduinoBoardEthernet). And im trying to connect a led matrix controller that also use SPI to the board (http://www.sparkfun.com/products/760). Does anybody know how to do this. I know you that in theory it should be posisble to have two slaves atached with different ss but i have had no success in getting it to work. Does anybody have an idea of how one would go about this?

Does your ethernet shield have an SD card? That's another SPI device. Have you thought about how those two SPI devices co-exist? Do you know how to communicate with an SPI device?
There needs to be a Slave Select pin for each SPI device. The shield uses 10 and 4 for ethernet and SD. Pick another pin for the LED matrix. Set the appropriate SS pins HIGH or LOW to talk to one device, and be ignored by the others.
