I'm using a wiznet 5100 Ethernet sheild and uploaded the web server example to the arduino.(for the first time) After uploading I typed in the ip address "192.168.1.177" (while connected to my network) and it took a long time to attempt to connect. Then a "This site can't be reached" page appeared on the screen. Then looked at the sheild and noticed the connection led nor the other status leds were lit up (except for power).
Can anybody help me out?

Ethernet cable is connected to the router. The router is has a wireless connection to the modem.
The usb cable is connected to my laptop and the arduino and sheild are receiving power.
The link led on the sheild is off and all the other leds (100m, FullD,COLL) are off.
When I mentioned a link i meant an url to your specific shield
If you put a laptop at the end of the cable instead of the shield, can you access the internet? Do you have DHCP? What address would you get?
