Ethernet Shield Mac Address

I recently bought an Ethernet shield and there is no sticker on it that says its mac address. Is there anyway to figure out the mac address?

You probably need to tell which type of ethernet shield you have. With the wiznet w5100 shields, you usually specify the mac address in the code you load. Have you looked at or tried example code?

I think the idea here is that you make up your own mac address. Typically, shields don't come with any built-in mac address.
