Eureka!! Multimeter!!

You will never guess where I found it! I found it when I was rummaging through my dad's storage room... er, I mean office.

One of the leads are broken where it plugs into the multimeter and it is not able to be fixed.

Well, my question is: are all the lead plugs the same outer diameter?

Thanks

There does seem to be a standard. I've used leads from various multimeters from different manufacturers and the all seem to work with each other.

You could take it apart and solder a cable directly on..

Various sources of replacement test probes.

Typically these are called "banana plugs" and "banana jacks".
Probes, probe sets, are available at Radio Shack.

Thanks again

Some cheap meters had the plugs in the meter the same diameter as the probe ends. It is very easy to tell which one you have.

Here is a picture of it:

I can't get it smaller.

You need banana jacks. Good news, because 99.99% of DMMs use them, now.

Oh well - I guess you don't need my coupon now? If you still want it, let me know!

BTW - that meter you picture looks to be a -really- old model that was once sold by Harbor Freight. In fact, I don't know when they stopped selling that model; it doesn't even have the transistor tester on it!

BTW - have you seen this thread?

If you can source the high-tolerance parts needed and put it together, it's actually a great tool to have around. It won't replace a multimeter, but it's good for when you need to sort or identify random and/or house-numbered parts (such as when you get a "floor sweepings Super Surprise Box" from Electronic Goldmine!)...

So very labor day we go to my uncles. He passed away and now we go to my aunts.

My uncle was an electrician and had many tools.

My aunt gave me a Fluke 87 for me to remember my uncle.
