Events Library

Hi there,

I am beginning a project which would involve an Arduino using an events library of sorts and displaying the results on an LCD screen, I'm hoping I can get it to show a map which is also a touchscreen.

I've used Arduino before and I've looked into linking an Arduino to Twitter via a wifi module or Bluetooth module.

I've also had a look at linking the Arduino to events such as Twitter or a calendar.

I was just wondering if anyone could give advice on the best way to start as ideally, I'd like to connect this to my phone too to control and I'm not sure where best to start.

Any advice would be great, as I have an Uno but will likely purchase a smaller Arduino but I don't want to buy a lot of parts that don't work that well (my last project involved speakers and a lot of which I bought weren't very good at all for various reasons).

If anyone could let me know if they have made anything like this before or link me to some code, I'd be very grateful, thank you.

What sort of events? Football matches? Rock concerts?

It would be every event in the area and would be limited to a certain radius.

So there isn't any specific events I had in mind, they're just categorised by location

So you really do mean events like concerts and football matches. To be honest I suggested those as a joke because "event" has a very technical meaning within a computer program.

I reckon a project that keeps a list of where and when concerts and horse races and swimming galas etc take place would be much easier to implement on a Raspberry Pi or, even better, a cheap laptop.

On-screen map... Touch screen... Event database with location and other data...

Three reasons, each of which say "this is not an Arduino project, get a real computer".
