External ADC with arduino

I have run out of analog bins and still need to connect one analog sensor
I thought about connecting the analog sensor to ADC and read the value using digital pins
Is it good approach?
Is there any consideration for ADC resolution bits or I can use any?

No idea what resolution you need, so no one can answer this!

I got your point, you mean it depends on my choice
However, does digital pin read all digital sensors regardless of resolution?
I will use arduino uno. What I understood is that the existing ADC is for arduino analog bin so it does not matter actually

You can get external ADC units that interface through I2C or SPI at resolutions from 8 to 16 bits or more.

Or you could use an analog multiplexer like 74HC4067 to connect max. 16 analog signals to one analog Arduino pin.

I believe my plan was completely wrong since digital pins can only read high/ low voltage (1bit resolution)...
